Compass Retirement Plan (Effective 2026)

Beginning January 1, 2026, Compass replaces CRSP as the mandatory retirement plan for U.S. clergy appointed at least half-time.

  • Church Contributions (non-contributory flat amount)
    • Full-time: $1,800
    • ¾ time: $1,350
    • ½ time: $900
  • Church Contribution (3% of Pension Plan Compensation [PPC])
PPC = salary + housing allowance, or multiplied by 1.35 if the parsonage is provided.
  • Clergy Personal Contribution & Matching
    • Clergy contributions: automatically set at 4% PPC (adjustable or optional via waiver)
    • Church matches up to 4% PPC
    • Example: With 4% clergy contribution, total additions = 8% PPC (4% clergy + 4% match), plus flat and 3% contributions.
  • Payment Flow
    • Compass contributions will appear alongside health, CRSP, and CPP on the monthly conference benefit billing.
    • Clergy serving quarter-time can still contribute to UMPIP personally; only the clergy contributions are billed via Wespath.
  • Flexibility & Options
    • Clergy may waive Compass or adjust their contribution via a notarized form submitted to the Conference Benefits Administrator.
