Global Ministries
In the Horizon Texas Conference, the Maximize Care & Healing Team provides for the functions of the Conference Board of Global Ministries, as outlined in The United Methodist Book of Discipline, ¶633.
In this role, this team is committed to the General Board of Global Ministries’ (GBGM’s) four missional goals of: making disciples of Jesus Christ; strengthening, developing and renewing Christian congregations and communities; alleviating human suffering; and seeking justice, freedom and peace.
The Maximize Care & Healing Team works in partnership with GBGM, which leads The United Methodist Church in equipping, strengthening and transforming people and communities for God’s mission around the world.
Global Ministries is committed to connecting the church in mission. Sending and supporting missionaries; partnering and engaging with volunteers; evangelizing and church planting through mission initiatives; addressing diseases of poverty and global health; and remain essential functions of the global church if we are to grow and be a vital presence for making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Missionary Support
Through our partnership with United Methodist Global Ministries, we support missionaries who serve in more than 60 countries around the world, sharing the love of Christ through diverse vocations and ministries.
United Methodist missionaries come from many places and backgrounds, serving in dramatically different locales and cultures. Their work spans a wide range of roles, including: pastors and educators, congregational and leadership developers, regional coordinators for UMCOR, agriculturalists and health coordinators, and medical professionals and community advocates.
These missionaries embody the spirit of “from everywhere to everywhere,” representing a truly global movement of faith in action.
There are several meaningful ways individuals and churches can support missionaries:
- Learn about the missionaries supported by the Horizon Texas Conference and their remarkable work.
- Pray for their ministries and the communities they serve.
- Give financially—any amount makes a difference.
- Host missionaries visiting the Horizon Texas Conference to hear firsthand about their experiences and the work the Spirit is doing.
