Healing Ministries

Jesus’ ministry was marked by acts of healing—restoring bodies, minds and spirits—and the church continues that work today. We believe God’s grace meets us in every season of life, offering comfort in grief, strength in recovery and hope in times of despair. Healing is not only physical but also emotional and spiritual, and it often happens in community.

Through prayer, presence, and practical support, these ministries create spaces where God’s love brings renewal and peace. Whether you are seeking comfort, freedom or a fresh start, you are not alone—there is a place for you here.

Grief Groups

Grief is a journey no one should walk alone. Across the Horizon Texas Conference, churches offer grief support groups and resources to provide comfort, prayer and community for those experiencing loss. Rooted in the hope of Christ, these ministries create safe spaces to share, heal, and find strength in God’s promise of peace and restoration.

Recovery

Addictions of all kinds can impact every part of life, but hope and healing are possible. Many United Methodist churches offer Christ-centered recovery programs, including Celebrate Recovery and Alcoholics Anonymous, to support individuals on the journey to overcome addiction. These ministries provide safe, grace-filled spaces where people find strength, accountability and the assurance that through God’s abundant grace, freedom and new life are within reach.

Suicide Prevention and Loss

When life feels unbearable or lives are touched by loss, the church seeks to be a refuge of grace and understanding. Support ministries for those living with thoughts of suicide, as well as for suicide loss survivors, provide safe spaces for honest conversation, healing and connection to critical resources. Grounded in the promise of God’s unfailing love, these ministries walk alongside individuals and families with compassion and hope for tomorrow.

Relationships, Marriage and Divorce Ministries

Marriage is a sacred covenant, but any relationship can face seasons of struggle. United Methodist churches provide ministries that nurture healthy relationships and marriages and offer compassionate care for those experiencing separation or divorce. Through prayer, guidance and community, these ministries remind us that God’s grace brings healing and hope, even in times of brokenness.
