Abuse & Prevention

The Horizon Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church is deeply committed to fostering a culture of safety and integrity across all ministries. We believe that every person—clergy, lay leader and congregant—deserves to be treated with dignity and respect in an environment free from harm.

Through proactive policies, training and support, we strive to maintain ethical and healthy relationships and ensure that our communities remain places of trust and care for all.

MinistrySafe

MinistrySafe provides a complete child safety system designed to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. By attending MinistrySafe trainings and following MinistrySafe guidelines, Horizon Texas Conference churches and ministries can ensure all children, youth and vulnerable persons have a safe haven, and that all of our faith communities are places of sacred trust and security.

Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Support

We uphold a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct by clergy or lay persons. The Church must be a sanctuary where all people are valued as beloved children of God. When harm occurs within our walls or ministries, we are called to respond with compassion, accountability and justice. The Horizon Texas Conference provides support through Crisis Response and Care Ministry teams.
