Housing
John Wesley taught that faith is active, expressed in works of mercy and justice. Housing ministries live out this calling by caring for those without secure shelter and by challenging systems that perpetuate housing insecurity. We believe God’s grace compels us to provide not only immediate relief but also long-term solutions that restore dignity and stability.
In partnership with congregations and community organizations, we seek to embody Christ’s love through safe housing and supportive relationships.
Warming Shelters
On the coldest nights, many of our churches partner with their municipalities to provide warmth and shelter or become places of refuge themselves. Warming shelters offer more than heat—they provide comfort, community and a reminder that God’s love surrounds us even in life’s harshest .
Organizing: Dallas Area Interfaith Housing Task Force
Established in 1994, Dallas Area Interfaith (DAI) was created as a “University of Public Life” to teach people how to engage in the democratic traditions of our country. Creating affordable housing is one of three priorities for their organizing work, uniting faith communities and community stakeholders.
Rural Solutions: Cultiv8Community
One of Cultiv8Community’s five focus areas is to help families experiencing poverty, who have never been homeowners, repair their credit, receive home ownership mentoring and purchase homes with a $10-20,000 down payment assistance grant and no sweat-equity requirements. Cultiv8 builds high-efficiency, affordable homes, which will help stabilize families and allow them to build generational wealth for the first time.
