Facilities Use Agreements
Opening your church’s doors to community groups, ministries, and public events can be a powerful expression of hospitality and mission. Facilities Use Agreements (FUAs) offer clarity and protection for both the church and users—ensuring safe, accountable, and respectful use of church property.
Facilities Use Agreement (FUA) for Non-Church Entities
Local churches are encouraged to use a Facilities Use Agreement when allowing outside organizations to utilize their space, covering permissions, responsibilities, and legal compliance.
Boy Scouts of America
Following the national BSA legal developments, the HTC board of trustees established that local churches cannot charter BSA groups. Instead, churches hosting BSA troops must only enter into “facilities use” agreements using this template pre-approved by the HTC trustees. In addition to the facilities use agreement, churches may enter into a pre-approved “affiliation” agreement with the BSA or local BSA councils using this template in order to continue to engage with this important organization in our communities. Churches can continue to involve scouts in the life of the church through Scouting Sundays and other activities.
