Pam Hughes has served as director of communications for the Horizon Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church since August 2024. In this role, she leads strategy and storytelling the conference, connecting congregations, clergy and communities with resources and stories that reflect the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Hughes previously served as director of communications for the North Texas Conference beginning in 2022, guiding communications during a season of denominational transition and growth.
A lifelong United Methodist, Hughes has nearly 20 years of experience in strategic communications. She has advised high-profile leaders and organizations, including four-star generals, elected officials, corporate and nonprofit executives and a former U.S. president. Her career has included leadership in public relations, media strategy, crisis communications and brand development, equipping her to tell stories that resonate both inside and outside the church.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in public relations from the University of Texas at Dallas, where she was a Eugene McDermott Scholar. Hughes and her husband, Steven, whom she met at UT-Dallas, live in Richardson with their two sons, Dillon, 12, and AJ, 10, and two rescue dogs.
