Board of Church and Society
In the Horizon Texas Conference, the Maximize Care & Healing Team provides for the functions of the Conference Board of Church and Society, as outlined in The United Methodist Book of Discipline, ¶629. In this role, this team is dedicated to equipping and mobilizing United Methodists across our connection to advocate for peace, justice and healing in our communities and beyond.
The Maximize Care & Healing Team works in partnership with the General Board of Church and Society (GBCS), which supports Annual Conferences by providing educational resources, building and sustaining relationships and mobilizing networks for social advocacy and action.
Each Annual Conference is called to have a Church and Society board (or its equivalent) and a Peace With Justice Coordinator, ensuring that our shared commitment to justice is lived out in tangible ways.
Texas Impact
Texas Impact, an independent 501(c)(4) in which our conference participates, equips people of faith and conscience with information, opportunities and outreach tools to educate their communities and engage with lawmakers on pressing public policy issues.
Peace with Justice Grants
The Horizon Texas Conference offers Peace with Justice Grants to support local churches and partner agencies engaged in the transformative work of loving enemies, seeking justice and serving as peacemakers in their communities.
These grants are designed for ministries and organizations within the HTC that are actively working to resolve conflict, promote reconciliation and advance justice through faith-rooted action. Whether you’re launching a new initiative or strengthening an existing one, these grants can help bring your vision for peace and justice to life.
