LGBTQ Ministry

In the Wesleyan tradition, we affirm that all people are created in the image of God and are recipients of God’s prevenient grace—grace that goes before us, inviting us into deeper relationship and community.

Director of Care and Healing

Associate Director

LGBTQ ministry in the Horizon Texas Conference reflects our commitment to embody Christ’s inclusive love, recognizing the sacred worth of every person. Rooted in our baptismal vows and the United Methodist mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world, we seek to create spaces where LGBTQ individuals and families are welcomed, supported and empowered to live fully into their God-given identity and calling.

We are committed to equipping churches to engage in faithful conversations, offer pastoral care and build communities where LGBTQ persons can thrive in leadership and discipleship. Guided by our Wesleyan emphasis on grace, holiness and connection, we continue to grow in our understanding of what it means to be the church for all people.

We Belong Grant Program

The We Belong Grant Program supports local churches in the Horizon Texas Conference as they develop creative, contextual and sustainable ministries that cultivate a culture of belonging and increase meaningful participation in the life of the church and community.
The program particularly encourages ministries that engage:
  • Non-dominant racial and ethnic communities
  • Young people from non-dominant racial and ethnic communities, particularly those under the age of 30
  • LGBTQIA+ people and communities
  • People with disabilities and their families
Projects may be short-term initiatives or longer-term ministries, but all projects should establish clear and measurable goals. Grant recipients will be invited to share their outcomes, stories, and learnings so that promising practices can be celebrated and shared throughout the Horizon Texas Conference.

Application Deadline: October 30, 2026
