Camping ministries in the Horizon Texas Conference offer sacred outdoor spaces where children, youth and adults can encounter God through creation and community. Whether gathered around a campfire, hiking through nature or worshiping under the stars, campers experience the love of Christ and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in deeply personal and communal ways. Our four camps—Bridgeport, Glen Lake, Prothro and SEEK—each provide unique opportunities for growth and renewal, grounded in our core values of safety, grace-filled community and spiritual transformation.

Our camps follow a year-long rhythm:

September: Bible Camp/Camp Bible at Bridgeport and Glen Lake
October: Confirmation Camp at Bridgeport
January/February: MidWinter at Bridgeport
February: Winter Camp at Glen Lake
June-July: Summer Camps at Bridgeport and Glen Lake

We recognize that not every church or family can attend centralized camps due to cost or distance, so we also offer curriculum and support for congregations to host their own local camp experiences. Whether on-site or in your own church, our goal is to make camp accessible and impactful for all. Scholarships are also available for any of our conference camp events. Camping is a ministry of presence, formation and joy. We invite you to explore each of our camps and discover how God is moving through these sacred places. Bridgeport, Glen Lake, Prothro and SEEK—each one is ready to welcome you into a deeper journey of faith.

Junior Counselors at Bridgeport

Part of our Conference Youth Leadership work, students can sign up as Junior Counselors through Conference Youth Leadership and learn how to lead through encouragement, equipping and empowerment. Middle and high schoolers serve as peer or group leaders at our Bridgeport Camps.

Emerging Leaders Institute (ELI) at Glen Lake

Emerging Leaders Institute is part of Glen Lake Camp’s work to prepare older youth to serve on staff at Glen Lake and beyond. Selected youth attend a portion of summer camp onboarding and staff training before serving one or more weeks as an assistant counselor.

Retreats at Prothro

The Prothro Center at Lake Texoma offers hotel and lake house style accommodations, perfect for retreats for families, adults and even entire churches.

SEEK Camp

Summer Events for Exceptional Campers, or SEEK, supports those who would not typically have the summer camp experience. Each camper is paired one-on-one with a counselor for the week, and they enjoy community, swimming, karaoke and other camping activities.
